"Shadow" September 9, 2021

Updated: Nov 5, 2021

A child's first glimpse of its Shadow can be horrifying! Looking down beneath its feet is this dark figure that resembles a clone of him. Is it a figment of the imagination, the child ponders, or is it real? Most disturbing is, whichever direction the child moves-the dark figure follows suit. The fright of it is startling, causing the child to take off running! If the child's mind could reason that an object is blocking the light, and when the light can’t pass through it becomes a dark shadow; then no longer would he/she be in the tyranny of this mysterious dark figure.

Schizophrenia was the darkness, the shadow in my life, a season that seemed would never come to an end. It wasn't a figment of my imagination, it was real! In disbelief, something of this magnitude had come to live with me, to invade my space, and to take root in my mind. Satan tried to capitalize on it all. Diligently and viciously, he used Schizophrenia to block the light in my life; that Light was Jesus and the WORD. I am thankful I didn't lose my sanity, my will to live. Most importantly, I didn't lose my joy. My faith was elevated in the True and Living God!

Perhaps you have a shadow in your past or present (something or someone), in your journey that could have shattered your life, caused it to turn out differently; that something or someone that almost took you out!

Your shadow may not be a mental illness. It could very well be an addiction to drugs, alcohol, or sex: Craving to have a man or woman, domestic violence, homelessness, lying, stealing, whatever the situation, don't give up on you! Keep pressing!
